Obituary of Nancy Y. McGinn

Nancy Y. McGinn, 91, passed away April 21, 2024 at the Finger Lakes Center For Living. Nancy was born in Utica, NY and was the daughter of the late Henry and Loretta Ulrich Young and resided in Auburn most of her life. She was a 1950 Port Byron Central High School Graduate and looked forward to attending her reunions and social gatherings. She retired in 1978 after 24 years with NY Telephone Company where she was an operator.

Nancy always enjoyed her time with family and friends. One of her favorite past times was going to McDonalds for coffee and enjoying the company and conversation of others. In her earlier years, she was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 97.

Surviving are her two children, Jim Vanacore and Debbie (Andy) Chestnut; a brother, William (Mary Alice) Young; a sister Jessie Powers-Latimer; four grandchildren, Scott (Amanda), Nancy (Dan), Amy and Luke Chestnut; two great grandchildren, Claire and Reid Chestnut ,an expected great granddaughter in July and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband Paul McGinn, two brothers and five sisters.

The family would like to thank the kind staff at Finger Lakes Center For Living for the wonderful care Nancy received for many years. There are no calling hours or services. A private graveside burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband Paul.
