Thomas Hickey Obituary

Thomas R. Hickey, 72 of Auburn, NY
passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016 with his lifelong high school sweetheart, Rochelle by his side.
He lost his battle after a valiant and courageous fight with cancer for 10 years.
Tom was a graduate of St. Alphonsus and Mt. Carmel High School where he excelled in basketball and academics.
He then attended Niagara University, where he was on the honor roll and a member of ROTC.
Tom was accepted at Syracuse Law School in his Jr. year at Niagara University.
He retired from Adams & Son Insurance where he was Vice President and Treasurer for 26 years.
He was a former member of Owasco Country club where he spent many quality hours with his sons, Joe and Tom on the golf course and many happy times with great friends.
At his home on Owasco Lake he enjoyed happy, joyful and peaceful times with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Many parties with bonfires were had on the shore, fishing, boating and enjoying the natural beauty of the lake - a place he always treasured.
A devote fan of Syracuse Basketball which he faithfully watched at the Carrier Dome and on television.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years,
Rochelle (DeMarzio), the love of his life.
He was blessed with four wonderful children, Darci (Mike McQueeney), Eliza and Mikey.
Colleen (Jamie Maassen), Olivia and Conor, Joseph (Laura & Mae Frances), Thomas (Michelle) ,
Ava and Eme.
Tom is also survived by this brother Jack (Terry Hickey), and his sister Ellen Cioffa, sister-in-law Nancy Hickey, sister-in-law Rosemary and brother-in-law Thomas Gregory, brother-in-law Nicholas DeMarzio, of Valley Forge, PA as well as many nieces and nephews who respectfully called him Uncle Chuckie.
He was predeceased by his parents Jim and May Hoerger Hickey, a brother Jim Hickey, a very special niece, Laurie Beth Hickey,
a brother in law James Cioffa and by his in laws Joseph and Frances DeMarzio.
Tom's family would like to extend a special thank you to Rosemary Gregory and MA McGurk for all your love and support.
Tom will be remembered as a quiet, gentle man who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Wednedsay, June 29 from 4 - 7 pm at Langham Funeral Home, LLC.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thurday at 10am at
Sacred Heart Church with burial to follow in St. Joseph's cemetery.
