Thomas Costello Obituary
Thomas E. Costello, 85, of Dougall Rd., Auburn, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Matthew House.
Born in Auburn, he was the son of the late Joseph and Clara Youtt Costello.
Thomas was a Holy Family High School graduate and was a Marine veteran serving his country from 1951 to 1952.
He was employed with Auburn Correctional Facility for 26 years as a corrections officer, hearing officer and retired as a lieutenant.
Following his retirement, Thomas became Town Assessor for Town of Fleming and Town of Springport.
Thomas had a strong catholic faith and was a former communicant of St. Isaac Jogues Church and Sacred Heart Church.
He enjoyed traveling and experiencing new adventures and always had a robust desire to know the history of each place he visited.
He appreciated the outdoors and loved to fish, hunt and walk .
He enjoyed the company of his family, friends and his cherished pets.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia O'Connor Costello; six children, Cathy (Gary) Crane, Thomas (Jacqueline) Costello, Timothy (Jenny) Costello, Amy (David) Riley , Brenda (Ronald) Bowers and Sarah (Paul) Diffin; a sister Clara Rusin and sister in law Pauline Costello; 18 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his three brothers, Joseph, William and John and by a granddaughter Lauren Bowers.
There are no calling hours. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 3 at 5pm at St. Alphonsus Church.
