Shirley Ann Walters

Shirley Ann Walters, 86, of Auburn, NY, passed away on June 21, 2025. Born on July 12, 1938, in Fabius, NY, Shirley was the cherished youngest daughter of George and Blanche Bigsby Brier. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Walters, as well as her parents and siblings—Charlotte Brier, Charles Brier, Harold Brier, Frances A. Schoeck, George Brier Jr., Irene Smith, Richard Brier, Carleton Brier, Franklin Brier, stepdaughter Tina Walters and great grandson John Perun Walters.

Shirley was blessed as the proud mother of six boys and five stepchildren, who cherish her memory deeply. She is survived by her dear sister Dorothy Richards and loving children and stepchildren: Robert Wheeler, George Wheeler, Stephen Wheeler, David Walters, Mark Walters, Kennard Timothy Walters, Donald Walters, Alice Walters, Gina Walters, and Teri Walters, as well as multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A woman of remarkable humility, wit, and warmth, Shirley filled every room she entered with joy and laughter. Her great passion was bringing happiness to others through service. She enjoyed playing piano, participating in dance events, and enjoying classic country music. Shirley leaves behind a legacy rich with humor and unconditional love, defined by her warm heart and generous spirit.

Friends and members of her community are invited to honor Shirley at a memorial service beginning at 9:30 AM Saturday, July 5th, at First United Methodist Church in Auburn, followed by burial at Tully Cemetery in Tully, NY. There will be no public calling hours.
