Penelope Perez Anderson

Penelope Perez Anderson, 81, formerly of Howard St., Auburn, NY  and Marcellus, NY, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025 at The Commons on St. Anthony, Auburn, NY.  She was born in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of the late Joseph and Jane (Gregory ) She received her Masters in Education from Mt. St. Mary’s University in California.  She taught in both the Auburn, NY and Marcellus, NY School Districts for many years displaying and practicing  patience, encouragement, and tireless devotion to all her students. 

Beyond Penelope’s professional life, she volunteered her time at many various places, always seeking to give back to the community in meaningful ways. While living in Marcellus she was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church and attended St. Mary’s Church in Auburn.  She is survived by her step son, James (Julie) Anderson, two grandsons Matthew Anderson and Zachery (Danielle) Anderson; sisters Pamela Barnes of London, England and Kathy Scott of Northern California.  She was predeceased by her husband Earl James Anderson in 1994.  The family would like to thank the caring staff on the 2nd floor at The Commons for their wonderful care and professionalism.

There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 27 at 11AM at St. Mary’s Church, Auburn, NY. Burial will be in St.Joseph’s Cemetery.  The omission of flowers is requested.  If you so choose, donations may be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
