Karen E. Smart

Karen Elizabeth (Merritt) Smart 69, wife of Frederick Smart Jr., died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at Auburn Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Auburn and a graduate of Central High School, Karen was employed by Honeywell retiring in 2011. After retirement she enjoyed time with her grandchildren watching soccer games, loons on the lakes of Maine, and times playing poker with her children.
Predeceased by James and Kathleen Merritt; She is survived by her husband of 39 years Frederick H. Smart Jr. and her siblings Judy (Ted) Kott, Pamela (William) Mahaney, James (Betty Anne) Merritt and her children Gary (Wanda) Sweet, Brian (Lynne) Sweet, Christopher (Ellen) Sweet and Amy (Jason) Hastings; 6 grandchildren Nicole (Gary), Gabrielle, Emma, Rylee (Amy), Abigaile and Collin (Chris); Three step children Julie, Laurie and Stacy; Many nieces, nephews, and extended family all of who loved her dearly.
Calling hours: January 2nd 2016 from 1:30 to 3:30 at Langham Funeral Home at 75 East Genesee St, Auburn NY. Funeral Services are private to family.
