Joyce Goldberg Chadwick

Joyce Goldberg Chadwick of Boca Raton, Florida and former longtime Auburn resident, active in both the community and the Jewish community in Auburn, NY died on April 16, 2016, after a lengthy illness. Daughter of the late Byrd Goldberg (Silverman) and the late Peter Goldberg, and sister of the late Shirley Wolf, Joy was born 9/10/1927 and was the loving wife of the late Norman Chadwick, and beloved mother of Katherine Chadwick Lawton (Richard), Barbara Shapiro (Ronnie Redland), and Nan Stolzenburg (Mark Stolzenburg). She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Rachel Lawton-Colman (Ruben), Eric Lawton, and Lindsay and Bryan Stolzenburg, and several loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Chadwick graduated from Nottingham High School and Syracuse University. She received a Bachelor's degree from SU and a Master's degree in education in 1950.
A resident of Auburn from 1951 until 2008, Mrs. Chadwick was a tireless volunteer for the Auburn Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served as their President for many years, and was involved with many additional organizations in the community, as well as the sisterhood of Temple B'Nai Israel, where she also served as President.
Together with Norman, Joyce was an avid supporter of Syracuse University where they endowed a scholarship fund for the Special Education Program at SU.
Graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 10 AM at Fort Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 9:00 AM to 9:45AM
prior to the service, at Langham Funeral Home, Auburn, NY.
