John Barber Obituary

John T. Barber, 90, of Owasco, New York , passed away at his home on Monday, March 9, 2026.  John was born in Conquest, New York, the son of the late John E. and Effie (Turner) Barber. He retired from RPM Industries where he was employed as an injection molding set-up operator.   He lived a life rooted in faith, family, and the simple joys of the outdoors. In his younger years, he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bicycling, activities that reflected his appreciation for nature and an active life.

A devoted member of Owasco Reformed Church, he had served his church community as both a deacon and an elder. His quiet dedication, strong faith, and willingness to serve others were an inspiration to many.

Above all, he was a loving family man who cherished the time spent with those he loved most. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in their lives and accomplishments. He will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and the values he lived by each day.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Shirley (Swayne) Barber; a daughter, Susan Joan Mallory; two grandsons, Matthew (Sarah) Mallory and Christopher John (Anna) Mallory; two great grandsons, Amarii Matthew Richardson and Dillon Thomas Mallory and many nieces and nephews.  John was predeceased by his five sisters, Marie Barber, Lois Kwick, Beverly Denelsbeck, Mary Corona and Charlotte Rizzo and his brothers, Charles, Milton,  and Harold Barber.

A calling hour will be held from 11 AM to Noon on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Owasco Reformed Church with a funeral service immediately following.
