Irving Rancier Obituary

Irving John “Skip” Rancier, born April 15, 1946, in London, England to Irving Laverne Rancier, Jr. and Olive Marjorie (Payne), passed away on October 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and kindness. He graduated from Union Springs High School in 1965 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he worked for both Cayuga County and the State of New York.

Skip was a devoted Navy Veteran who deeply loved his country. He was also an avid animal lover with a gentle heart for all creatures. One of his favorite pastimes was feeding the seagulls—especially his favorite, Sammy. In his younger years, he enjoyed boating, duck hunting, and riding his motorcycle. A lifelong resident of Cayuga, he was often seen with his beloved dog, Tagg, faithfully by his side on car rides and on errands.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his cherished Dalmatian, Domino. Those who knew Skip will remember his generosity, his passion for animals, his love for his family, and his kind heart.

Skip is survived by his faithful companion, Tagg; his daughters, Erin (James) North and Melissa Baker; grandchildren, Kai and Keira North and Baile Baker; a son, Trevor Komanecky and a sister Rhonda Davis and her children.

He was laid to rest with full military honors at the New York State Veterans Cemetery in Romulus, NY.

Skip’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his kindness and loyalty will never be forgotten.
