Howard "Luke" Lukins, 82, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at his home on Beech Tree Road, Auburn.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 56 years, Esther Quinn Lukins, his son Timothy (Christina) Lukins, his Quinn family in-laws and by several siblings.
Luke served his country in the US Army during the Korean War.
He was the recipient of a purple heart and silver star.
He was a master at operating heavy equipment.
As a member of local 832 operating engineers for over 55 years, he was employed by Consolidated Pipeline Company, C.N. Flagg and R. L. Schooley Enterprises.
Luke called Auburn Alliance Church "his church" and was actively involved in the construction of the original building at 630 North Seward Avenue.
He never met anyone he didn't like, and everyone who met him knew they had a friend for life.
He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Ida Lukins, a brother and his sisters.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 12 from 4-6pm at Langham Funeral Home, LLC, 75 E. Genesee St., Auburn.
A Celebration of
Luke's life will be held at the Auburn Alliance Church, 630 N. Seward Ave., Auburn on Friday , November 14 at 11:00am.
The family wishes to thank the Camillus and Auburn Dialysis Centers for their many hours of dedication to Luke during the 15 years that he was in need of Dialysis as well as the surgeons at S.O.S. and employees of St. Anthony Commons.
In lieu of flowers those wishing may make contributions to the National Kidney Foundation of CNY, 731 James St., Syracuse, NY 13203 or to the Auburn Alliance Church, 630 N. Seward Ave., Auburn, NY 13021 in memory of Luke.
