AUBURN | Donald B. Assmann, 74, of Fourth Avenue, Auburn (Town of Owasco) passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017, at The Commons on St. Anthony Street. Born in Auburn, he was the son of the late Raymond and Bernice (Weeks) Assmann. Don was a 1961 graduate of West High School and a proud graduate of Central Michigan University. He retired in 2002 from Auburn Correctional Facility where he was employed as a teacher. Don enjoyed watching all sports and was a huge Yankee fan. He was an avid reader and was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 207. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Ann "Nancy" (Drew) Assmann; daughter Sara Drew; sister Linda (Robert) Bower; nephew Michael (Susan) Bower and niece Melissa Bower. He was the proud Papa of Devin Drew and Nina Fletcher. Friends are invited to visit the family on Friday, June 2 from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Matthew House or to the Owasco Fire Department in memory of Don.
