Daniel Gilmore Obituary

Daniel P. Gilmore, of Lexington Ave., Auburn, passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer on May 17, 2024 at the Matthew House. Born in Auburn, NY he was the son of the late Paul and Clarabelle Weaver Gilmore. Daniel was a graduate of Port Byron High School and was a proud Marine Corps veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was employed with P&C Supermarket for many years where he was the meat department manager.

Daniel was an active life member with the Cayuga Fire Department where he was past chief. Among Daniel's many hobbies of fishing, woodworking, drawing and flea marketing he treasured most spending time with his family. Along with his loving wife Mimi, he ran the bingo program at St.Mary's Church for many years and enjoyed spending their winters in Florida.

He is survived by his two sons, Martin (Gretchen) Gilmore and David (Amy) Gilmore; his brother William (Mary) Gilmore, two sisters, Judy (Martin) Quinn and Patti Multani; grandchildren, Morgan (Nick Ramos), Seth, Nora, Isabel, Brynn and Payton Gilmore; great grandchildren, Kolton Ramos and Everleigh Gilmore; a sister in-law, Catherine Dougherty and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Mary "Mimi" Gilmore in 2022 and his in-laws Constance and Martin Dougherty.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held May 23 at 11am in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Daniel's memory may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America. Please visit www.Langhamfuneralhomellc.com to leave a condolence for the family.
