Daniel Robert Emms, 66, passed away on October 29, 2025. Born in Syracuse, NY , he was the son of the late Robert W. and Janice Bourgeois Emms. He was a kind and gentle person whose warmth touched everyone who knew him. Daniel was a graduate of Jordan Eldridge High School and was previously employed with the NYS Armory in the custodial department. He was a special man with a big heart who deeply loved the company of his family and his true friends.
Daniel enjoyed life’s simple pleasures—spending time outdoors, camping under the stars at Cayuga Lake State Park, and cheering on his favorite baseball team at Auburn’s Casey Park. For many years, he brought cheer and joy to countless young children on Christmas Eve, as he made his rounds with Santa, portraying one of Santa’s helpers, “Rudolph”, a role he cherished and was filled with his trademark of kindness and joy.
Daniel will be missed by those who truly knew him, especially by his close and loving friends whom he considered his family, Richard Harwood and Becky Allen and extended family and all those who assisted him through the years at NYDDSO .
There will be a calling hour Wednesday, November 5 from 10-11am followed by a funeral at 11am at Langham, Funeral Home LLC, 48 South St., Auburn. Daniel will be laid to rest beside his parents in St. John’s Cemetery in Camden, NY. The omission of flowers is requested.
