Charles N. Eddy, "Charlie", 82, of 134 Dunning Ave., Auburn passed away quietly on Thursday, October 29, 2015 holding the hands of his loving wife and youngest son.
Born in Montour Falls, NY he was the son of the late John and Iola Carr Eddy. He was a 1950 high school graduate of Ovid Central School and
was an Army veteran serving in the Korean War.
He retired in 1994 from NYSEG where he was employed for 38 years as a welder.
Charlie had many interests and hobbies.
He was a well respected and active member of First Presbyterian Church and in his earlier years a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 14 and Troop 1.
He was a historian of the Civil War and enjoyed wood working and carving, refinishing furniture, cooking and antique cars.
He was a passionate advocate for the fight to keep Genesee Elementary School open and a strong supporter for the school's parent /teacher organization.
Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren participate in their many sports and activities.
He was a member of the Cayuga County Sportsman Association and loved being outdoors.
Among many of his outdoor activities, he liked hunting and looked forward to mowing his lawn.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judy Godfrey Eddy; seven children, Dr. Jacalyn Eddy (Gerald Turk), David Eddy, Dr. Kristen Kennedy , Jeffrey Clark (Karina), Gregory Clark (Erica), Charlene Eddy and Matthew Eddy (Heather), a brother, John Eddy, a sister Gretchen Whittier, 18 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and by 4 nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Sunday, November 1 at 2pm at First Presbyterian Church, 112 South St., Auburn.
In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to the church or to the Hospice of the Finger Lakes in memory of Charlie.
