Betty Jean Tucker, 79, died February 10, 2026 at Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Auburn, NY she was the daughter of the late Willis Ray and Dorothy Louise (Titus) Tucker. She was retired from The Commons on St. Anthony St. (formerly Mercy Rehab) as a nurse’s aid. She previously worked at P & R Pasta Factory. Vacationing in Maine held a special place in her heart, where she loved admiring the beautiful tall ships and lighthouses.
An avid reader, she was rarely without a book in her hand. Any subject that caught her interest was worth exploring, and her love of learning never faded. She delighted in crossword puzzles and anything that kept her mind engaged, always enjoying a good challenge and the satisfaction of solving it.
She also found comfort and enjoyment in her favorite television programs, particularly the Discovery Channel and Dr. Pol, the veterinarian show, which reflected her compassion for animals and all living things.
She is survived by a son Wade Tucker and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother Robert James Tucker. There are no calling hours or services at this time. Contributions in her memory can be made to the SPCA or to any animal organization for her love of animals.
