Betty L. Taber, 86, formerly of Hurd Circle and Westminster Manor, Auburn, New York, passed away in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. She was born in Cuba, New York, the daughter of the late Arthur and Thelma (Cooper) Hardy. She graduated from Friendship NY Central School in 1958 and Rochester Business Institute in 1960. She was employed with Worthington Corporation in Wellsville, NY from 1960 to 1964. During that time, she married her loving husband, Burt R. Taber, in 1961.
An avid artist, she found great joy in painting, especially during Tuesday evening gatherings with friends, where laughter, friendship and creativity filled her home. Her artistic spirit extended beyond the canvas into crafts and quilting, where her hands and heart worked together to create beauty in all she did. Betty was also a dedicated co-coordinator of the First Love Ministry Community and Soup Kitchen. She was a beloved member and devoted herself to helping others, always offering a warm smile, a listening ear, and a helping hand. Serving those in need was not just something she did, it was who she was.
In her quieter moments, Betty enjoyed time on her iPad, keeping up with loved ones and exploring new interests. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family. Whether it was a simple visit, a shared meal, or just being together, those moments she cherished the most.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Burt R. Taber; her children,Terri Krevey and David Taber; grandchildren, Kelly Brandt, Andrea Krevey, Emily Krevey, Leo Taber, and Max Taber; great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Rose Ishley, Adeline Brandt and Bowie Brandt. She was predeceased by a sister Karen Custer and brother William Hardy.
At this time, there are no services. A future burial will be in Soule Cemetery. Should you wish, contributions in her memory may be made to a food bank of choice.
